Transferring Ownership
Hand over org ownership to another team member.
Ownership of an organisation can be transferred to any existing member. Only the current Owner can initiate this process.
Before you start
The person you want to transfer ownership to must already be a member of your organisation. If they're not yet a member, invite them first and wait for them to accept before proceeding.
How to transfer ownership
- Go to Settings > General.
- Scroll down to the Transfer Ownership section.
- Select the member you want to transfer to from the dropdown.
- Click Initiate Transfer and confirm when prompted.
The selected member will receive an email asking them to accept the transfer. The transfer does not happen automatically — they must actively confirm it.
What happens after the transfer
Once the recipient accepts:
- They become the new Owner of the organisation
- You are automatically reassigned the Admin role
- Both of you receive a confirmation email
If they do not accept within 7 days, the transfer request expires and no change is made. You remain the Owner throughout this period. You can start the process again at any time.
Why transfers require acceptance
Ownership comes with responsibility for billing, data, and the long-term management of the workspace. Requiring the recipient to actively accept means the transfer cannot happen without their knowledge and agreement.
